South Carolina Lacrosse Officials ASSOCIATION

The SCLOA provides training to anyone interested in becoming a boys’ lacrosse official at the Youth or High School levels.  The general items required to attain US Lacrosse certification through the SCLOA  are:

  • Membership in USA Lacrosse and SCLOA
  • Classroom Training (usually conducted during the month of January/February)
  • On-field observation at least 2 scrimmages

  • Passing an open-book rules examination on the USA Lacrosse and NFHS websites

Youth Officials Training

Youth (USA Lacrosse Level 1) Training is targeted at officials with little or no experience in officiating boys lacrosse. The SCLOA focus at this level is to provide training for officials interested in officiating games at the sub-high school level. High school students and others interested in only officiating boys youth games may learn more about the Level 1 training here.

Adult Officials Training

High School (USA Lacrosse Level 2) Training sessions are held for prospective adult referees prior to the start of each lacrosse season in January and February. Completion of this training qualifies the trainee to officiate both High School and Youth boys games. Adults, ages 18 and older, may learn more about the Level 2 training here.

Note: High School level officials must be at least 18 years old and have graduated high school.
